Resume Keywords That Get You Interviews

The right keywords get you past ATS and in front of recruiters. Here's how to find and use them effectively.

Where Keywords Come From

Job descriptions are the best source. Required skills, preferred qualifications, and repeated phrases are all candidates. Industry terms (e.g., "agile," "KPI," "stakeholder") also matter.

Place Keywords Strategically

Use them in your summary, experience bullets, and skills section. Natural placement beats keyword stuffing. ATS and humans both favor readable content.

Match Exact Phrases When It Makes Sense

If the job says "project management," use that phrase. "Managed projects" may not parse as a match. But don't force awkward wording.

Include Variations

"Customer success" and "client success" might both appear. Use the one in the job description first, and add the other if it fits.
